Well...

I know this could sound good, so I'm giving you a 7 for the effort, but for the time being the mastering is awful: the track in general is way too loud, distorted and overall a little intimidating to listen to because of it. It's hard to enjoy the track for its other qualities because of it.

You should work on that and resubmit it =)

ShadowLugia responds:

Thanks for you're input, I really do appreciate it. Mastering is my weakness sense I'm still learning, I'm still pretty new. =P
But hopefully I will learn better 'mastering' techniques and re-post it. Thanks again! ^__^

Review goes where?

Drum N Bass? No. Awesome? Hell yeah!

FocusedFINN responds:

hahah thank you! i didn't know where to put it! where should it go???

Nice :F

Great piano and synths :)
The kick could use a little thump and the looping is a bit out of sync.
I'm still gonna rate you 5 though ;D

Phyrnna responds:

Changed the kick up a bit. ^.^ Thanks for the review and score!

First off, awesome..
The whole feel of the song reminds me of Pendulum, the intro especially, but I felt it was all suspense and no real reward :(

Melophobik responds:

Aw, man, that's quite a compliment :)

Sorry the drop wasn't heavy enough for ya, I tried my best to make sure that as soon as the beat came in it immediately went from that build up to a huge tune.

But it's all good :) Thank you for your vote and your review!

Beautiful

I only have 2 problems with this piece: bad drums(like, really bad ones) and an overall lack of bass. Perhaps the composition lacks a bit of coherence, but then again, a tricky piece can be the best at times.

Other than that, this was just amazing. The melody at 21 seconds is great, why did it have to stop so soon? :(

Malthiest responds:

Thanks for the review.

Did you mean the quality of the drums, or the actual beat.
if the quality, I'm still trying to find some good samples.
(those are the FL default drums)

Sounds nice but...

You should really learn to master better, because this is clipping like mad. I think it would sound pretty neat if it didn't clip so much and was better equalized... so work on that for future projects :)

ChineseCommando responds:

Yeah I know. That happens for almost all songs with my program. Thanks for the advice, anyway.

Nice and calm

It's was pleasant to listen to, nice melodies and rhythm. I would have liked to see some more layers though. Some strings instead or with the pad would do wonders, I'm sure. The snare also sound a bit thin to me, but everything else is pretty much right on. :)

SFaPiL2 responds:

I was afraid that too many layers would've made the song too "heavy" (taking away that calm&pleasant feel to it) but I'll give your advices a try anyway.

Thanks!

Cool

Cool melody, nicely done. I think you could master it a bit better, turning up a bit on the low frequencies. Also, it's got somewhat of a "midi ish" feel to it - you could try adding some slight reverb on the piano.

...man, I'm turning this into a techno piece... I don't even know anything about this kind of music so... don't listen to me :p

Unhelpful review, I know, but keep up the good work nonetheless ;)

ObsidianSnow responds:

I agree about the low frequencies... It needs some subsonic underlying stuff to give it a bit more of a growl... and I think I just need to play with my settings in general, see what I can do to get rid of the MIDIish feel - you're right on that, too. But I had to laugh when you said it needed more reverb - There's a massive amount of reverb at the beggining there... but I don't think I spent enough time mastering the piece as a whole - I'm still working on this one, so that's on the list.

If you want to play with it, let me know when you're done! I'm interested to see what this would sound like as techno... I can try to get you the notes for it if you need them.

Thx for the review!

Catchy

This sounds really great. Good beat, rhythm and melodies - nicely done!

Is that a sitar I hear? >:3
Any chance you made this with Cubase?

ADR3-N responds:

Thanks : 3

I used a lot of synths though, including the sitar, some percussion, synthbass, and lots of other crap. The only thing that wasn't a synth was the guitar, and the tambourine, lol.

I made it with Mixcraft 4 build 91.

Astonishing

Very beautiful. You're a natural, I mean, I'm 15 just like you, and I really enjoy making music, but I could never do something like this. It sounds like the work of someone who has never done anything but write music his hole life. It's calm and relaxing, as is your other music. Amazing!

Perhaps you could continue it with some "heavier" strings, with more bass, and some light drums.
I can't be more exact, sorry, I've never had music "come to me" like that, sadly. I just experiment and see what happens.

On a side note, can I ask what programs you use?

BlazingDragon responds:

Meh, I just have a lot of free time to spend writing music. A lot of times, I'll just sneak into the choir room during lunch at school, start improvising on the piano and get an idea, which I later finish at home. I'm not a prodigy or anything. :P

As for programs, I mainly use a demo of FL Studio 8 and a bunch of free soundfonts from across the net. I get a lot of them from www.hammersound.com. I have a copy of Finale 2007 I got on discount, but my computer is way too slow to handle it. So pretty much all the music I make comes from free software, lol.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. It makes me feel good knowing that my music isn't going to waste! :D
