Awesome

It sounds like the kind of music used in older computer games, I love that. Is that why you chose mono? I think you should have gone with stereo... it just sounds better, and perhaps you should have boosted the high frequencies a bit, but that's just me.

Those are the only 2 things that bothers me with this track, the melodies are all top notch, so 5/5 and 10/10 :)

Nice and calm

It's was pleasant to listen to, nice melodies and rhythm. I would have liked to see some more layers though. Some strings instead or with the pad would do wonders, I'm sure. The snare also sound a bit thin to me, but everything else is pretty much right on. :)

8/10
4/5

I was afraid that too many layers would've made the song too "heavy" (taking away that calm&pleasant feel to it) but I'll give your advices a try anyway.

Thanks!

Cool

Cool melody, nicely done. I think you could master it a bit better, turning up a bit on the low frequencies. Also, it's got somewhat of a "midi ish" feel to it - you could try adding some slight reverb on the piano.

...man, I'm turning this into a techno piece... I don't even know anything about this kind of music so... don't listen to me :p

Unhelpful review, I know, but keep up the good work nonetheless ;)

ObsidianSnow responds:

I agree about the low frequencies... It needs some subsonic underlying stuff to give it a bit more of a growl... and I think I just need to play with my settings in general, see what I can do to get rid of the MIDIish feel - you're right on that, too. But I had to laugh when you said it needed more reverb - There's a massive amount of reverb at the beggining there... but I don't think I spent enough time mastering the piece as a whole - I'm still working on this one, so that's on the list.

If you want to play with it, let me know when you're done! I'm interested to see what this would sound like as techno... I can try to get you the notes for it if you need them.

Thx for the review!

Clipping much?

Sorry man, that wasn't all that great XD
It was fun though! How it's calm, and then all the sudden, hell breaks loose.

I couldn't give you a high rating for this, it would just be wrong, but hey, I don't think you were expecting high ratings? Sorry if you were, but this just won't get em D:

Catchy

This sounds really great. Good beat, rhythm and melodies - nicely done!

Is that a sitar I hear? >:3
Any chance you made this with Cubase?

ADR3-N responds:

Thanks : 3

I used a lot of synths though, including the sitar, some percussion, synthbass, and lots of other crap. The only thing that wasn't a synth was the guitar, and the tambourine, lol.

I made it with Mixcraft 4 build 91.

Astonishing

Very beautiful. You're a natural, I mean, I'm 15 just like you, and I really enjoy making music, but I could never do something like this. It sounds like the work of someone who has never done anything but write music his hole life. It's calm and relaxing, as is your other music. Amazing!

Perhaps you could continue it with some "heavier" strings, with more bass, and some light drums.
I can't be more exact, sorry, I've never had music "come to me" like that, sadly. I just experiment and see what happens.

On a side note, can I ask what programs you use?

BlazingDragon responds:

Meh, I just have a lot of free time to spend writing music. A lot of times, I'll just sneak into the choir room during lunch at school, start improvising on the piano and get an idea, which I later finish at home. I'm not a prodigy or anything. :P

As for programs, I mainly use a demo of FL Studio 8 and a bunch of free soundfonts from across the net. I get a lot of them from www.hammersound.com. I have a copy of Finale 2007 I got on discount, but my computer is way too slow to handle it. So pretty much all the music I make comes from free software, lol.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. It makes me feel good knowing that my music isn't going to waste! :D

Had to review

As a musically interested person(I'm not going to call myself a musician ;) ), I had to reply to this track, because something was annoying me with it. It's a good track, really, but why did you put in that way-too-funky drum loop in there? I remember it from FL.
It ruins the song, and I'm sure it would of been way better without it.
It just doesn't blend in.

You should try posting a new version without it. I would really like to hear that. :)

I'm rating 9 though, because everything else is really nice. Sadly it's a bit hard to focus on it with that drum loop, which is why you don't get a 10 ;P

LollipopNightmare responds:

I agree.... the lame drum loop always bugged me too... but when I made this song I only had the demo version of FL, and sadly I don't have any of my old FL files because of that.
SO maybe one day I'll take the time to remake this song, but prolly not.

Thanks for your comment!

Deserves a review :)

I liked it, a lot.

You should try experimenting with some more different instruments; eventually, it gets a bit too much of the same.
But again, I really liked it.

Keep on making music, and keep on trying. Above all, perhaps, stay original! :)

4/5

Cheers for the interest.

Very, very good!

Really, it was awesome. I did however not like the synth-melody coming in around the end. I thought it was a bit messy.

But it was very nicely made apart from that. :)
5 from me.
